Hansi was admitted as a solicitor in 1997 and has practised criminal law ever since. She trained at a firm in Brighton before returning to London in 2000, practising as a freelance criminal lawyer in the magistrates’ courts and police stations of her home town before accepting an invitation to join us in 2016.
Throughout her career Hansi has maintained an interest in the law concerning those detained under the Mental Health Act, and specifically how they are treated in the Criminal Justice System. Between 2013 and 2016 she gained experience working as an Independent Mental Health Advocate, working with people diagnosed with mental illnesses both in hospital and the community, and this experience led her to pursue an ambition to practise mental health law alongside her criminal law work.
Hansi has always strongly believed in the right of everyone to have equal access to justice and the best possible representation, regardless of means or personal circumstances. She remains committed to the provision of legally aided legal services.
